I am 73. Started out with a 19 set, worked through EC10, FRG7, FRG100, AOR8600 to the current Icom IC-R8600 with all it's bells and whistles. This little Malahit has brought back the fun of my first radios. No memories, no scanning, just pick your frequency and listen in. See what is going on around your frequency on the waterfall display. It runs for hours on it's internal battery, and I run it from a 10Ah power bank - no psu noise. You need a decent aerial for shortwave, and it receives perfectly on 7 and 14Mhz LSB & USB. Works well on Airband and Marine band. Good reception on FM broadcast band (stereo on headphones) on the supplied telescopic whip. Use it anywhere with 4/5 metres of wire croc clipped to the whip. Great little radio, good value for money, and fun to use.

I have enjoyed using this radio. Have found lots of utility stations as well as international broadcasts that my other SW couldn't ever process clearly.

Nice sdr reciever.

This is a very nice high performance sdr reciever. It comes with the full software unlike the cheaper sets which only come with the basic firmware. Performance on vhf and uhf is very good on the supplied antenna but you will need to buy a antenna for hf to get best results. The radio is made out of metal and charging it takes around two hours. I've used the radio for three hours continous and I'm still at half battery capacity.
My only issue is that it's a bit fiddley to set up initially but was once it's done and your over the steep learning curve on operating it, it becomes a joy to use.
Well worth the money.
