amPro WARC band multi pack
Review by

Cheaper way to add the WARC bands to my /P collection. Setup was simple and gave coverage of the whole band. Nice quality and for the price worth trying for use from the car. I have seen many singing there praises so thought they were worth giving a go.

I'd seen a number of folk on various forums raving about these Ampro antennas, so thought I'd give the WARC pack a go as my first purchase and venture into these. Delivery was fast and the items were well packed for their journey here from Moonraker.
My first use of these was at a nearby POTA park to adjust the VSWR. I had also obtained a triple mag-mount specifically to support these antennas. Mounted to the top of our VW van, I was able to adjust VSWR on 17m to 1:1, on 12m to 1.2:1 and on 30m to 1.4:1 - the 30m antenna needed most adjustment out of the box, the others were pretty much adjusted fine as delivered.
Further testing has shown that VSWR does alter a little, depending on what you are near to (e.g. other vehicles) and it is higher on our Renault Twingo (which obviously has a much smaller roof/surface area of metal compared to a LWB van).
Performance is very good so far; my first contacts on 30m FT8 were Dominican Republic and Equatorial Guinea, with plenty of other DX to Asia, USA and Australia on 17m.
Physically these are very quick to put together and fit to my vehicle roof. I shall be using these moving forward for all POTA activations, as they save so much time over deploying linked dipoles. Obviously you have to change antenna for each band, which takes maybe 1 minute, but the benefit is that if one breaks (or say one band isn't very busy) you still have the others available.
As soon as Moonraker get the others in stock, I'll order 20m, 10m, 6m and more. I'm genuinely surprised at how well they work, especially given the price. I'll update my review if they break or if I identify any problems in the future, but I'm hopeful they will be fine for many activations to come.
