Brought this to replace my Yaesu FT-2800.
The Anytone UV-778 feels solid and is very feature rich and low cost.
Works well in my car with a mag mount antenna. I would definitely recommend it.

Easy to use, however...

This is a very compact and easy to use little mobile radio for beginners, however the mic level is so low I get complaints all the time. The mic gain in the menu does nothing to help. Also, every so often when powering up, the screen is just blank white, and the only solution is to disconnect the main power.
I wish I had done a bit more research and spent a bit more money on a better quality product.

I purchased this radio for the car as I wanted a small form radio to stick on the dash. I am well impressed with the ease of programming and using the 778UV. The price for such a good product under £100 was a no brainer as it does everything a foundation licence holder needs for transmitting power. Also the front of the radio can be dismounted by purchasing a separation kit from Australia via a well know auction site so you can hide the main unit under your seat or in the boot of your vehicle. I will be buying another for the shack as why not, quality radio sounds good gives out foundation licence powers and good reviews all over.
