Programming the AT-779 4m
Review by
Buadhach
Under "Attachments" I found AT779V_6688_Setup_1.02 . I downloaded this, unzipped it and installed it on a Windows 10 computer; Device Manager told me the USB com port number. Then I connected the programming cable to the radio & started it. The programming was straightforward; there was a very useful section which made configuring the rig quick & easy.
The 779 is a nice little rig, a good intro to 4m. I even heard someone talking but the transmission ended before I'd raced back to the rig. (luck of the game I suppose but encouraging, nonetheless!! :-) )

Only just installed into my van, ideal size for the modern vehicle. as with all modern rigs its mostly menu driven, however, this little gem is easy to program even via the front buttons, I elected to program it via pc and the software from moonraker's site... found it a doddle to do with the supplied cable just make sure its fully inserted before reading from the radio...like all pc programing I would advise reading what's on the radio first and saving this as a "base" just in case things get corrupted (unlikely with this rig) and put freq you want into the application and save that before righting back to the radio... job done!... now I've just got to work out how my moonraker 4mtr antenna adjusts to vswr LoL ... buy it its a brill radio with no excuse to try 4mtrs, use it or loose it I say

A surprisingly good little transceiver.

As others have noted. On unpacking I was surprised by how compact this tranceiver was. It is tiny and weighs just under .5 kilo about 1lb.
However the nature of its size and very low weight, it suits my needs perfectly as I plan to use it while hill-topping.
At 15 Watts max power it has the advantage over the highest powered portable handie.
Downside of course is having to carry a 12 lithium battery pack in my rucksack. (No big deal).
As for antennas, I love to experiment so a homebrew folding portable 4m vertical dipole will work fine while up on high.
So yes! I am very pleased with my purchase.

Nice compact radio, ideal for dipping a toe into 4mtr
Review by
Ken
This is a great little radio ("little" being the operative word here), it must be the tiniest device I've come across recently. That said, it is a fully operational radio that even includes CTCSS/DCS decoding and encoding, just a shame we don't have any 4mtr repeaters at the moment. The only downside for me is the permanently connected microphone. I would have preferred the microphone to plug into the side somewhere, leaving space on the front for a VFO knob. Currently the only way to alter frequency is via UP/DOWN buttons on the microphone.
This is a good, affordable radio, ideal for anyone wanting to work the 4mtr band.

Have anytone AT779 4 m rig but where do I find programming software
Review by

Cannot find programming software. Seems to refer to 779v versions?? I need to program the squelch button for on or off function. The radio itself is brilliant performance wise but tedious keeping finger on button to hear weak sigs-Yes- I have adjusted squelch level.

This is a bit smaller than I thought it would be. It’s a great little radio, fits into the centre console perfectly. The audio is good and I’ve had good results so far.

Great little set
Review by
Geoff G8PPQ
Wow, what a tiny little radio, but performs very well.
receive sensitivity is excellent, and transmit audio reports have been very encouraging .
For me, the main selling point of this set is it's size, so convenient to put in the car, or even take out /P with a 12v battery.
As expected it does run a bit hot in waffle mode, but not to the point of melt-down.
Nice clear display, easily seen glancing down in the car.
At first turn on out of the box, put it into VFO mode then tune to the 4 Mtr band 70.000 - 70.500, since as standard it does cover 66-88 Mhz, Set your step size to 12.5Khz and away you go.
There is a programming cable in the box if you wish to set your fave channels in memory, simple to use software is available for download from a link on the Moonraker site.
Cheers to Chris and the gang at Moonraker for this excellent and fun little radio.
