I know these radios are cheap and cheerful and can never compete with the major players in the amateur market BUT I am seriously impressed with it.
The PPT has a nice click to it and feels better than my FT60 and FT2D radios.
It feels nice to hold and it seems to last forever between charges. The FM radio works well and if there's an incoming amateur signal breaking the squelch it auto switches to it then goes back to the FM radio.
The speaker is loud but a little tinny for my ears. The display is OK and shows an A & B frequency, channel number or Alpha tag if you've set one. There are 3 different colours you can set if you want for the display.
I like how the belt clip works in that if its attached to your belt and you want to use the radio simply lift up the radio and it slides off the clip that stays attached to your belt.
Like all handhelds it could use a better antenna, however with the supplied one i could open up a repeater some 10 miles away from my QTH.
Programming the unit is fiddly on the rig itself and some of the shortened menu items need looking up to know what they do, BUT, if you buy the programming lead you will easily complete the task using CHIRP.
So for everyday use and especially if its likely to get knocked/dropped then for £30 odd quid you can't go wrong, plus its got some water resistance too.
