Customer Reviews
Primarly purchased for use /M as I have been impressed with friends models who use it in the Shack but seen and heard good things about the 400 when used in the car.
Great audio reports both TX and RX nice clear and good volume using the built in speaker.
Ease of use using the lovely big control screen. and the menu system is quite intuitive. The manual is a bit hard to read (YouTube came to the rescue when I got stuck). I love the quick reference guide you can keep with the radio albeit it has tiny writing.
GPS lock up is near instantaneous and seems to be typical across all the Yaesu range. This means that APRS is fully functioned and with the 50W output should be able to reach an iGate without too much difficulty.
The only addition I would like to have seen is the Bluetooth module fitted as standard and maybe would be good to have the TX 'widebanded' if you are planning on traveling far afield with it.
By far the best Dual Band Radio I have ever had.
Very easy radio to get into. Also has a lovely clear display transmit and receive audio is excellent. Its very easy to get into fusion lots of online help available with YouTube. The radio is easy to program especially with software available online. I use the APRS feature and the display shows me how far away other stations are and also the direction and height, the GPS lock is excellent. Price wise, no cheap but it’s top of the range.
