The ATX is designed for use in portable applications. It is base loaded with a switch to change bands. Those traveling light will appreciate the AX1's ultra-portability: It's the only telescoping whip that disassembles into two 6" (15 cm) pieces.
The very low loss and matching coil is made of an allow and generates very little heat. Hence, the antenna can be used with power levels up to 30W.
The antenna is supplied with a radial wire and it is recommended that an auto atu is used.
It is claimed that correctly installed and operated, the antenna is around -4dB compared to a full size equivalent.
