Description / Icom IC-7100 HF/VHF/UHF Transceiver
A first for an Icom transceiver, the IC-7100 is designed to the 70MHz band in European versions where 70MHz is open to Amateur radio enthusiasts. Touch Screen Control Portal An amateur radio first! The radio control head features a large, multi-function, "touch screen"' DOT-Matrix LCD display that is positioned for easy view and operation. This is an important feature as the controller display not only provides information, but is your control portal to the IC-7100's feature settings and menus. Control Head Breaking the concept that a radio panel should be flat, the IC-7100's control head is designed for an optimal view angle for the LCD as well as the spacing for large fingers, and plenty of room to have a large internal speaker along with a CW keyjack, phone/speaker, microphone, and control cable. D-STAR READY The IC-7100 provides D-STAR DV mode digital voice and low speed data communication. IF DSP features The latest 32-bit floating point DSP supports many digital processing features such as digital IF filter, twin PBT, manual notch filters. Of course, those highgrade digital processing features work on all ham bands, from HF to the 70cm band.

Customer Reviews
I knew there was much more to the rig than 2m FM, but this was one of only 2 radios supported by RemoteTX currently that have VHF/UHF.
I found the radio very easy to set up and use and it quickly proved its worth in the planned remote operation. I like that it can be used as a 'black box' without the control panel unit so it can be tucked away in a corner for fully automated remote use.
That all said, I've been trying out some of the other facilities and HF and found it produces great audio in both TX and RX (with HM219 mic) and has effective noise reduction and filtering on receive. So much so that I'm now figuring out how to use it remotely on HF. It's nicely built and has all the connectivity I need.
The only thing I miss is the waterfall, but I have a G4HUP board arriving to make an RF tap and feed an SDR for that function.
I have looked at other Companies,
but Nothing Compares to MoonRaker
The 7100 form factor is extremely practical and as a ''shack in the box'' it will do everything that you need it to do. I'm really impressed as I've found out that I can pipe out unfiltered audio via the inbuilt USB soundcard and feed this into a PC program to decode Fusion and other digital modes that the radio doesn't directly support. This is a brilliant feature and is something I feel that every radio should have.
I've had some brilliant audio reports with the provided microphone on SSB and been able to work stations on 2m FT8. The touch screen is responsive and whilst it doesn't have the waterfall display of it's more expensive brother, it's more then suitable for your everyday radio needs.
Radio runs cool and has a wide range of connectivity at the back for your computer, key or other accessories.
One critism that I will provide was the VFO knob was extremely stiff when first used. It was due to the rubber sleeve around the VFO knob rubbing against the body. It must have been pushed on to far when packaged. It's easy to move and once this was, the machined metal VFO knob spins freely which makes surfing the bands extremely enjoyable.
I would also recommend getting an SD card and also the RT systems programming software for the computer. The radio comes with a USB cable which will allow you to transfer data from it and also feed audio to and from the radio and also control the radio via CAT control.
