Customer Reviews
Just about everything you could want, good for holiday and travelling around. . Audio quality very good and nice easy icons on front screen.
I purchased the Icom because I wanted to experience D-Star but also wanted a better experience with analogue too.
The Anytone suffers from self generated interference from the screen when using analogue, the Icom gives perfect clean audio.
Also I've noticed that D-Star audio levels are much more consistent than DMR, no more frantic volume adjustments required.
The major positives for me are: the very clear and large display, audio quality, fast GPS, near repeater list and dual VFO's.
You definitely get what you pay for...
If your after a portable wether for analog or D-Star you wont go far wrong with the ICOM ID-52e
Apart from the ease of use with the best menu system I've used and ease of access to the D-Star system, the quality of build is superb. Audio is better by a long way than the FT5. All in all very happy and enjoying using the radio.. 73
As this is the only handheld and my first I think it’s good value for money for what it has packed into it. I love it and have also recommended it to two others who have already purchased one too.
Screen is colour seems bright enough to me and no sun glare.
Controls are very familiar with the ID51 range, but still easy to use and get you head around settings etc.
Only downside I have found and is obvious is the price, it is a lot for a HT but after getting one and using it I would say it is worth it.
