Really nice radio.

What a great little radio , I bought this to take on holidays with me . It has loads going for it with all the different bands and , the icing on the cake is you can get on to the 10 metre bands as well although you need a HAM licence to transmit on it . I may find this useful as i am studying to take my foundation test for a HAM licence so , I recommend this radio .

Good product and great customer service

the 514 looks great and is very useful because of the export mode in HAM bands.

I live in Germany and Julie from Mooraker was extremely helpful to find a shipping option to Germany for me!

Brilliant little radio
Review by
Works really well with great outgoing and incoming audio. The Noise Reduction Circuit works very well. Easy to use with all the standard European/UK bands and you can get expanded frequency coverage via a simple keypress.

Transmit range is limited to a couple of miles (Normal for a handset on these frequencies). You can buy a longer antenna which helps, or you can connect it to a mobile/homebase antenna using an adapter.

Receive is amazing for such a small antenna with Americans and Europeans heard when the skip is running.

Good value handheld with a trick up its sleeve

Seems well built and easy to use. Not had any contacts on it yet, but not spent much time on it. A couple of extra key presses and it opens up to anything from 25mhz through to 30mhz. Loads instructions on youtube. Moonraker ones come with it enables to do "the mod".

Cracking little radio
Review by
Feels well built, and has great audio quality. The noise reduction circuitry works wonders in areas with higher QRM, and only just falls short of performing miracles! Supplied rubber duck antenna is not so great, get yourself the better moonraker add on, it's worth the money. Plenty of US stations heard here in Cardiff the day it arrived, much to the amazement of my colleagues. On both AM and FM I've had good audio reports on local contacts, yet to manage any DX. I didn't expect such a feature packed, quality radio at this price point. Great it has a BNC connector, which feels robust enough to handle one of those longer type telescopic antenna, which would probably improve performance further.

Jopix CB514 Handheld
Review by
I am really impressed with this radio, the first new handheld I have bought in 20 years! The build quality is excellent and it came with a proper paper manual. The layout is simple and easy to use and the screen is clear and bright. Audio is about right, especially with the NRC turned on. Had a quick contact on FM this afternoon, the report was good but it was only about 5 miles. Mic audio was good. Frequency was OK on EU band but slightly down UK by about 10hz so not noticeable on FM. The rechargeable battery came flat so 3 hours on charge to full. For the cost its a bargain, compared to PNI 82, Thunderpole T-X or even the President Randy III which costs more than double! The band selection is interesting as it can be selected at any time with one long press of the band button, in EU, DE,IO, I2,IN and PL you get AM and FM but In UK band it toggles between UK FM and CE FM? perhaps this needs changing from CE to EU so we can have AM on mid band ?
In conclusion an excellent radio for little money and big features.
