I shortlisted three ATUs, phoned for advice and purchased the LDG. I am delighted with ATU paired with my Icom 7300, it just works!

I purchased one of these as it could take a bit more power than my yaesu ft-817 gives out on the basis i might choose to use a small amplifier in the future and to be honest it was not a great deal more money than the cheaper ldg tuner. On using it with a G5RV i would dispute the claims of upto 6 seconds to do a full tune on any given band, and having never used a tuner with latching relays i was concerned with the continual clicking racket whilst it was in tune mode however that's how it works. On several of the bands including 20m the first tune took nearly 11 seconds but once tuned the internal memory does work, I use JT65 digi mode so all the calling frequencies are now stored and yes it is lightning quick on memory recall no more than a second or two. Having used the tuner for a week or so now i have got to know exactly how it works and how long to press the button etc its very easy to use with my FT-817 and i forgot to mention the control cable is supplied but be careful when fitting its very small and i would say delicate so be vigilant the cable is in the correct position before pushing it into the socket to save from any user damage and my tuner the cable was and is very tight fit. In conclusion I would recommend this unit for use with the Yaesu FT817 it can be used with other radios but personally i have not tried that yet.
