The Moonraker 1:1 QRO BALUN operates from 1.8 – 54MHz. It will handle up to 1kW CW or 1.2kW PEP.*

It is used to match a balanced antenna, such as a dipole, to an unbalanced feeder such as coaxial cable. It also reduces the amount of static pick up on the antenna and so, reduces the level of noiseheard at the receiver end.

Simply connect one leg of the dipole to each of the two threaded terminals and secure using the winged nut. There is a crimp on lug included for each terminal.

Each leg of the dipole should also be threaded through the corresponding strain relief ring to prevent excessive strain on the terminals.

Attach your 50Ω coaxial feeder to the SO239 connector at the base of the balun, raise the antenna to a reasonable height (a quarter wave at the lowest required frequency is optimum), plug the other end of the coaxial cable into your transceiver (via an ATU) and away you go.

*This power rating is for intermittent amateur (CW or SSB) use and not for AM broadcast or constant carrier data modes. For AM broadcast a much higher power BALUN is required.
