FOR THE MONEY IT WORKS QUITE WELL
Review by
I Also bought this from the RSGB money off deal the receiver feels heavy and well built.
For the price this is a pretty good sdr receiver its not got all the bells and whistles but for a handheld first starter SDR Receiver for the money is ok.
Obviously the small antenna you get with the receiver is only good up high outside i did pick strong HF signals with that antenna but your probably going to need a good Discone antenna outside or inside in the loft.
The Grinch i got with the receiver is the manual very poor be good if someone took the time too go through the radio and rewrote one.
The screens gd but in strong sun might be a bit harder to use like i say its a gd first sdr radio it does have a few other uses but overall not bad for first one.

Nice large display ideal as a panadapter

Makes a neat little bandscope / panadapter / waterfall to stick on top of the IC-7100's remote head. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mu6KXJ8qTLQ

Ok for broadcast FM, but not much else.
Review by
I bought this Radio from the RSGB offer after reading review in last RADCOM but the Radio I received is nothing like Described. The only bits that I could make work were Broadcast FM and 20 Meters. I couldn't get Mediumwave stations or Longwave to work though the waterfall display seemed to be full of signals. I downloaded the new manual from the website, but seemed to be a repeat of the one that came in the box but bigger print. I be more careful in future.

I wish I had read the reviews first

I was expecting to be able to download a manual for it as the bit of paper that comes with it is only good for telling how to charge it. I don't think that I will be able to do anything with it without a manual. I would not have bought it had I known there was not operating instructions with it

Only WFM and a sticky rotary encoder. Lots of internal spurii
Review by
Bought out of interest rather than a serious portable RX. The mode lacks FM but does have WFM and stereo FM but nothing narrowband. The spectral display is full of a wideband spurious internal emission so is not too easy to see any external signals.
The operation of the rotary encoder is intermittent and the press and turn for some menu options is more miss than hit.
There does not seem to be a way to edit or delete memories and the leaflet enclosed is not helpful beyond charging and the rotary encoder function.
I was not execting a lot but feel it has not met expectations.

useless user instructions!
Review by
User manual Left up to the very knowledgeable in sdr! user info practically non existent! no good for the 2m band on the supplied rubbish antenna, but ok with my 12m telescopic mobile antenna. its ok? but should have gone the extra buck for the Malachite range!. you get what you pay for and no reflection on this seller whatsoever.

Not very clear instructions
Review by
Bought one of these and wish I hadn't some of the application Info was wrong of this sdr receiver It doesnt work on 2M band after stating it does on all sales literature! misleading as for the supplied antenna useless! gets knowhere!! also it stated it was a BNC connector ? turned out to be SMA! I had to buy another PL259 to sma adapter after shelling out £7 for the BNC adapter £8 ! not happy!!..operating instructions were virtually useless and left up to the operators knowledge pity help anyone starting out on SDR with this radio. It is very pocketable and does need a big antenna to work faultlessly I am disabled and was using it on my mobility scooter with mobile Ipad adapter but My RG213 low loss coax on my mobile antenna absolutely did need the above sma adapter. verdict: its ok but should have went the extra buck and bought the more expensive Malachite range. just shows you get what you pay for!!
