Description / DISCONTINUED SDRplay RSPdx 1kHz - 2GHz HDR SDR Receiver

The SDRplay RSPdx is a complete redesign of the popular RSP2 and RSP2pro multi-antenna receiver. It's a wideband fullfeatured 14-bit SDR which covers the entire RF spectrum from 1kHz to 2GHz. Combined with the power of readily available SDR receiver software (including SDRuno supplied by SDRplay) you can monitor up to 10MHz spectrum at a time.

The RSPdx provides three software selectable antenna inputs, and an external clock input. All it needs is a computer and an antenna to provide excellent communications receiver functionality. A documented API allows developers to create new demodulators or applications around the platform.

Specification

  • Covers all frequencies from 1kHz through VLF, LF, MW, HF, VHF, UHF and L-band to 2GHz, with no gaps
  • Receive, monitor and record up to 10MHz of spectrum at a time
  • Performance below 2MHz substantially enhanced, improved dynamic range and selectivity
  • Software selectable choice of 3 antenna ports
  • Enhanced ability to cope with extremely strong signals
  • External clock input for synchronisation purposes, or connection to GPS reference clock for extra frequency accuracy
  • Excellent dynamic range for challenging reception conditions
  • Free use of windows-based SDRuno software which provides an ever-increasing feature-set
  • Strong and growing software support network
  • Calibrated S meter/ RF power and SNR measurement with SDRuno (including datalogging to .CSV file capability)
  • Documented API provided to allow demodulator or application development on multiple platforms
**Rquires USB to B style lead Not Supplied**

Great bit of kit, software going to take a little while to figure out
Review by
solid well built bit of kit, the metal case give a feel of quality, followed the startup instruction and got it to be seen,
the only issue is you do need to watch a number of the SDRPlay Youtube videos get the most out of the device, the array of controls is quite overwhelming on first look, if they could add an option it looks like the programmers did

sensitivity seems good, even plugged into my HF fan dipole I managed to ge a good signal from one of the NOAA weather sats and airband planes

I got the DX as I wanted the good sub 100khz performance as I want to try and receive the Grimeton SAQ signal on XMAS eve, but soon discovered I have bad QRM in the 15-25Khz band so will have to see if I can reduce this by minimising kit on in the shack

very pleased with it and look forward to testing more modes and bands

Great SDR!
Review by
The SDRPlay RSPdx is a gtood quality, well built unit in a metal case that looks like it will last a long time. The high dynamic range and smooth transition from HF to VHF/UHF is the ideal solution for me. I initially bought an Airspy Mini with the Airspy Spyverter - yes I am new to all this - but found that you have to physically unplug the Spyverter when you want to move from HF to VHF/UHF monitoring and visa versa. Not a problem as the good people at Moonraker quickly exchanged the items for the SDRPlay and I can't recommend the Moonrakers service highly enough. The difference between the Airspy Mini and SDRPlay RSPdx was apparent immediately, and whilst the SDRUno software was a little daunting at first there is plenty of help and support from the SDRPlay website and Youtube to get a novice like me going. The unit also works great with the Airspy YouLoop antenna. Would I recommend the SDRPlay RSPdx? Yes I would. Would I recommend Moonraker as a company to deal with? Absolutely!

Very good product
Review by
Nice metal case for extra shielding.
the high dynamic range is a nice feature that allows good use of the Youloop antenna.
The antenna switching is a really good feature.
add thsi box and the new SDRconnect software is a really good product overall even though the SDRconnect software is only in a preview release right now.
Users can still use SDRuno software and this box even works with SDR radio and SDR++

Review by
I was only going to purchase the antenna from Moonraker and get the SDR Receiver somewhere else cheaper but due to the antenna I wanted was cheaper with Moonraker and they honoured a special offer P&P code which saved me money too I purchased the SDR from them, Up to now I'm pleased with the Product, The service and delivery, Will use again in the future

SDRPlay Unit
Review by
I thought I would explore the world of SDR, bought an AirSpy Mini but immediately realised its limitations. The lovely people at MoonRaker very kindly took it back and I got an SRDPlay RSPdx unit. Much better. Delighted with my second choice :-)

Good Buy
Review by
I already had an RSP1 (not 1A) which does everything I want. However SDRPlay say that their new software SDRConnect will not support the RSP1 so with the price drop I bought a RSPDX.
It has slightly better filtering than the RSP1 and is better a low frequencies but generally I don't notice a lot of difference.

Its a quality piece of gear and works very well.
If you want to try SDR I would say "get one" but if you already have an earlier RSP I am unsure if its worth upgrading.

RSPDX
Review by
I have been using the RSP1A for the last couple of years and when SDR Play announced the price drop I thought I would treat myself. I am glad I did as the RSPDX is a lot better and more sensitive than the RSP1A and has 3 antenna sockets. Thanks to Moonraker also for the quick dispatch. Ordered one day and recieved the next day.

Good all round sdr
Review by
In the past I have not been to found of the Sdr radios. SDRplay RSPdx I have been into radio for about 30 years one of the best receivers I had was a icom 71 . I then went for my license and bought different radios for hf but the Sdr is a lot better then lot of the radios on receiving. The sdr filter are very good I have used a long wire and a loop but I use a atu with both loop and long wire . For the price it is with most budgets and you will be surprised at the performance
