I bought the antenna for travel and setup in compromised locations. In this respect it meets my needs at an economic price point. Well made, when collapsed it robust although I do agree with other reviews in saying the whip top sections are very small in diameter. That being said I trialed it with a counterpoise on a garden table, paired with my 5W QRP radio and readily made cw contacts across Europe. In this case I used my VNA to achieve resonance and in the fullness of time I will tabulate settings for all bands. A radio with an inbuilt tuner/display of SWR, say a G90 would make this very simple. Paired with a mag mount or specialised vehicle mount would work well, I’m sure. Essentially I am pleased with my purchase although perhaps I would have preferred a 3/8 thread rather than using an adapter.a

I’m not sure why it works so well compared to other verticals I’ve tried.

Only 1 S point lower than my end fed wire antennas and that a very small compromise considering how easy it is to setup.

I’ve used it on the ground with a ground stake and radials. So far worked 16 stations in 1 sitting all over Europe, 3 in Brazil 2 in North America. North America was a 57 report with QSB.

Antenna works better than expected and the tuning is surprisingly easy. The smooth slide operation makes it easy to tune, just like balancing a gimbal.

Highly recommend it.

At first sight, the antenna looks like it is very well-made. It could have been made a much better product if they had used 3/8th threads for all the interconnecting parts.
It would also add to the longevity of the antenna if Moonraker could supply replacement telescopic whips for the antenna because inevitable the telescopic whip will eventually get damaged and when I enquired, Moonraker did NOT stock replacement telescopic whips. This means you have to spend another £69.95 for a complete replacement antenna!!!

This is very well made and is ideal for portable use as it is so compact. Good performance for what it is and easy to use.

Saw this advertised somewhere and decided to give it a try. I am not at all sorry for buying this antenna. I use it at my office with the LDG MTR 4b radio. Set it up by the window and attach the counterpoint and it tunes right up. I also take it on trips to Florida where setting up an end fed or dipole is not easy. Set out by the pool and am on the air quickly. I would highly recommend this antenna for anyone who is out and about a lot.I also have the MD7400 but find I use the smaller antenna more. They are both great antennas for QRP and pota/sota.

I had seen and had the chance to try the MD3500 aerial in mid 2023, but all UK dealer sold out of them so quickly! When I tried this aerial, it worked well, was easy to put together and tuned effortlessly (using an FT-817). The aerial performed very well. When finished, dismantling the parts was both easy and required no tools, no screws. The MD3500 is very lightweight, ideal for QRP portable (even though the aerial will handle up to 130 watts). When dismantled, the longest part of the aerial is a mere 30 cm long.
You will need an SO239 socket to mount the aerial. I made a simple 5mm thick x 40mm wide x 150 mm long plate and drilled/mounted a back to back SO239 coupler through the plate. This allows the MD3500 to mount on one side and a PL259/coax on the other to the radio. The aluminium plate is then just clamped to a picnic table and anything horizontal and you are on the air portable. Just remember to add radials too.
Wonderful little aerial, well-made and performs well too.
My only wish is that Moon Raker would stock spare telescopic whips in case of breakage.

I wanted something that I could keep in the car and quickly put on a mag mount to work some HF when parked up. This is absolutely perfect for that and it really does not disappoint! It packs down very small and would fit in most glove boxes. Set up is really simple and tuning is very easy and quick. I use this with my Xiegu G90 and using the built in SWR Scanner on the G90 I can tune up any band in seconds.

WELL MADE BUT DISAPOINTED TO FIND IT IS NOT 3/8 UNF (TO MIX AND MATCH THE 80 METER COIL WITH MY OTHER ANTENNAS)
