Brilliant mag base
Review by
Steve
Fantastic mag base for the money sticks to the car like no one’s business even at 70+ mph. The only issue I had personally was the coax wasn’t long enough for where the base was to where the radio is in the car, I made a length of cable put some PL259 plugs on with a joining connector works a treat.

Feels appeal is good with this mag mount and the magnetic "grab" is substantial. It's currently holding a Super Gainer on a shed with a tin roof which, of course, is causing it no issues. Will transfer it to the car soon for some stationary work - the Super Gainer is a bit too top heavy for a single magnet.

Good mag at decent value. But?

I got a fair few mag mounts. Micro mags to tri mags. This one was purchased to replace an old ageing 1990s equivalent. Great mag, but metallic cover not plastic, which had gone quire rusty. Rubber boot on the underside long since failed etc etc.
Very pleased with the MAG-145 as a replacement. Much the same, better in some ways. My only gripe is that it came with 4m of coax. Great if your mounting in the centre of the roof of a typical motor. Not so good if you want it on the back of the roof (near the hatchback door) or on the boot itself. The coax just wont be long enough.
Fortunately, I have (a hidden) mini8 coax run from the dash to the boot installed. So I plug my MAG-145 into the boot (so to speak).
Now here is the but?
I would have given this mount 5 starts happily, not 4, had it had an extra meter of coax. Because I personally think for most folks it will be a must. 4m is simple not enough for those wanting to rear mount their antenna on a typical modern car.

Doesn’t budge!

I’m not a huge fan of mag mounts but having a company car I can’t drill holes and do proper mounting.
This however will hold anything I throw at it including some really large tribanders. I’d buy it again in a heartbeat if it got stolen (there’s no way it’s going to fly off!)

Good build and strong enough for the Sirio 4000. Even after hitting a few trees it hasn’t budged.

Solid mag mount.

Decent quality SO239 type mag mount. Seems to be happy when used with a dual bander antenna. The enclosed adhesive foil is to improve capacitive coupling with the car bodywork I believe and certainly seems to work ok in my installation.
Thumbs up!

Purchased this to use with my new Sirio Hi-Power 3000 PL antenna. Extremely good construction, strong magnet and good protection from the elements. The best choice bar none.

Sirio MAG 145 mag mount

Purchased to mount a Comet 0.95m antenna. Sirio high quality. Very strong magnet, quality rubber boot and looks superb. Very secure mobile and I'm sure it will be just as secure with longer antennas
