After using it for a good week now , I’ve had nothing but good radio checks from USA Thailand South Africa as well as the local Italians frequency is stable . I’d give it 8-10

It's fairly large but that's good in one way for home base use. Love how it's kept to old style but has some of the newer tech added to it. Delivery took bit longer than usual but it was worth the wait.

First impressions of the radio were good, having owned 3 older style 3900's which were drift monsters, this new model is rock solid and on frequency. As with many of the new radios coming out of china this radio uses the same board as many of multimodes, the PQ811ZA COD6B83 by Qixiang Electronics. On first switch on I was expecting the dreaded beep tone but it wasn't present, It appears they have turned it off by default. A quick flick through menu and I discovered it is the first thing in the menu structure 'BP' can now be turned on and off so no need to use the software and cable. I know that these radios can be be expanded but I have decided to keep it standard, everything works just fine, my only gripe is the coarse clarifier does nothing, the fine clarifier works but apparently the coarse clarifier only becomes active when expanded. Not a big deal as you would only really use it to bring in really off frequency stations on SSB. Also the ch9 is a bit of a useless feature these days, could have been used for something else like Hi Cut. Overall a solid radio with noise reduction, classic looks but very modern circuitry.
Only had local radio contacts on it so far but the reports are good, FM deviation is a lot better than most new sets, showing just over 2khz which is better than the 1.8khz you normally get these days
AM modulation is good, SSB is clear and punchy. For a legal multimode the price point is good, so value for money.
