Great Little Scanner
Review by
Steven
The Uniden UBC-125XLTC is a great little scanner.
It covers a wide range of frequencies and has a really good receiver. I have been able to hear marine traffic, airband traffic, local businesses on the Simple UK Light channels, PMR446 and Amateur Radio operators.
The scanner can scan channels very quickly so you never miss a thing and the stock antenna works surprisingly well but you may wish to consider buying a longer antenna which will improve reception. I bought the MRW-100 MKII Super Gainer which works well.
The scanner can be programmed manually or by connecting it to a computer, you can download free software to do this.
The only downside to this scanner is battery life. The radio only requires 2 x rechargeable AA batteries (which come with the radio). This is great as it allows the radio to be compact and lightweight, but means they only last a limited time. I've been getting around 5 hours use. You may wish to buy an external fast charger as charging the batteries in the scanner via the USB connector takes 14 hours.
Overall I am very pleased with this scanner, it works very well, just remember to take spare batteries with you if you intend to do a lot of listening.

Performance Uniden 125 XLT
Review by
Chris
I have had several scanners over the last 20+ years, most have been Uniden. I lost interest in the hobby around 5 years ago as the most interesting broadcasts disappeared. I now find myself bed bound and decided to get involved again knowing that airband would be my most likely source of entertainment. Unfortunately, due to my location and circumstances this scanner receives very little. I am thinking of getting a Moonraker indoor antenna, but funds are tight for me, as they are for most people at the moment. I do not blame the scanner, or the supplier for my predicament, perhaps I was allowing nostalgia to get in the way of common sense.

A great scanner for am/fm. Wide coverage, very fast at searching and scanning. Close call is an extremely useful feature which will lock onto the strong transmissions nearby even if you don’t know the frequency.

Been pondering buying a scanner for some time. i originally had a Sharp pocket radio that had an airband channel and would be ok to a point. It was lost many years ago during a house move.
I took the plunge and bought direct from Moonraker as they were offering a deal on the extra aerial. Delivery was prompte, within 24hrs and tracked. Personally found the manual a little hard work, but some prior research online helped. Took a day or two to get used to it, then bought software to enhance a great product. As i live in Swindon, i'm under several airways and pick up everything from BA to military going in to Brize Norton.
Good value and a great new way to enjoy a tipple in the garden as the flights pass overhead.
