Customer Reviews
I've had other makes which just don't cut it in terms of reliability.
This radio has plenty of menus to keep you occupied however it's quite straight forward to plug and play straight out of the box,
The ft991 a works extremely well with the mat30 tuner in fact I prefer it to the yaesu fc50 tuner.
If your looking for a 100 w radio that is portable, compact very well built and from a reliable company then look no further.
The ft891 comes with yaesu's 3 year warranty as standard.
The radio is first class. It was purchased for portable use. The performance of this radio is better than was expected. Have used Moonraker before and will use them again!
The display is big with all the required information clearly displayed. One other niggle is the voltage is displayed only at switch on so you'll require a meter if you are concerned about battery charge. My old FT-897 has the voltage top right corner at all times so we know Yaesu can do it.
All in all though a great field radio and very good value for money - especially from Moonraker.
It's simple to use, has great reception, I got great audio reports from my QSO's.
Ran it off an Ultramax 36 hole 22A battery, and linked it to a Sidewinder vertical antenna 40-10m.
It's a great rig to grow with as will go unto 100W.
