Great microphone, I bought this as a spare for my Yaesu FT897, offers DTMF tones but not remote control, if you want remote control for your Yaesu FT897 then you need to but the MH-58A8J, both are excellent Mic's

Works perfectly, allows remote control of the Yaesu FT897D, although website doesn't say its compatible, the instruction manual for the FT897D listed this as an optional extra, thought I would give it ago and I'm very impressed, so not only do you have the DTMF tones you can control the radio from the palm of your hand.
