Description / Yaesu SCU-LAN10 Network Remote Control System

Yaesu SCU-LAN10 Remote control for Yaesu FTDX10 & FTDX101 radios.

Yaesu give you an option for users who want convenient remote operation of the FTDX101 or FTDX 10 - without the need for a large computer at the remote location.

The SCU-LAN10 interface is connected to the FT-DX101D or FT-DX101MP using a USB cable, and the Ethernet interface to the router in the house (cable not included). Using a free PC software (Windows 7/8/10, 32 and 64-bit), remote access to the transceiver is possible from anywhere in the world - this could be the table next door or in the garden, or even the hotel room in another time zone. The advantage - you never miss a rare DX station because you are travelling. Another possibility is for club stations that want to make the high-quality transceiver available to many members at a quiet remote location with large antennas.

The 'PC Remote Control Software' from Yaesu offers operation as if you were sitting directly at the unit. A standard PC headset is required for operation. The PTT is operated by mouse. The large screen on the computer is used to full advantage, because the division of the waterfall display of both bands can be cleverly combined and distributed with the controls. And if you only want to listen, the bandscope can be displayed very large over the whole screen - surely an eye-catcher for the next public presentation in the club

Please note that the transceivers must be equipped with the latest firmware to operate the SCU-LAN10 interface - The SCU-LAN10 firmware, software, and firmware for the FT-710, FTDX101D, FTDX101MP and FTDX10 has been updated. This now means the SCU-LAN10 will work with the FT-710 as well as FTDX10, FTDX101D and FTDX101MP.

Easy to use and setup

I purchased this item as I had bought a secondhand FT-710 and wanted to control the rig from inside the house. The setup went smoothly and within 30 minutes I was controlling the rig how I wanted. I had heard that some people foudn it difficult to setup but I did not find that at all, just follow the instructions watch youtube videos and hey presto your working remotely from your house or garden depending on you licence conditions.

Not for CW operators

An update to my previous review - this is of no use if you want to operate CW remotely. Having spent ages trying to make it work I found out it's a known issue. So if you want to send CW find an alternative solution. Other than that it's all good.

Does what it's supposed to - very useful

I purchased this so I could access my FT-DX10 remotely, either in the house or whilst away from home over the Internet. The install instructions worked fine and didn't take long to get working. Programming my firewall for outside access was fun but not overly complex. It works nicely, although I don't use the SCU-LAN software itself but an iPad app called FT-Control by Marcus Roskosch DL8MRE which I can thoroughly recommend and have used extensively with my Icom radios in the past. I have tried the SCU-Lan client software which looks and performs very nicely but I wanted access from the iPad. Marcus also does a Mac version for those who want remote control and don't like Windows. The unit is a bit pricey for something that Icom build into their radios as standard though!

Good Quality. It's amazing to be able to work from anywhere, over the Internet. The remote operating software has a nice and responsive screen interface. A bit pricey, but worth it.

I purchased the Yaesu SCU-LAN10 from Radioworld and their support has been fantastic. Thanks Radioworld! The SCU-LAN 10 is a pricey bit of kit from Yaesu and configuring it can be a bit of a challenge, (it was for me) and with it I can now remotely operate my FT-710 across the Internet, from anywhere in the World. It is amazing to be able to do this. The Screen interface is really nice and remote operation is fast and very responsive, with little lag. I would have liked to have given 5 stars and have given the product 4 stars because there is no power adaptor, or power cable supplied for use with the FT-710 and I have found a couple of operational bugs that Yaesu UK are looking into. Is it worth the money? If operating your FT-710 from anywhere in the World is your cup of tea, then Yes! It is for me. I'm glad that I bought mine from Radioworld and a big thanks to Sam for his support.
