I wanted an extension speaker to match a Yaesu FT450D as much as possible. I have lots of speakers already, but all the wrong size, shape, etc. This one is pretty good, nowhere near as good as my Yaesu SP6 for example. But exceeds many of the others in sound quality that I have.
But then there is that thing? It just looks the part next to the 450D. Pretty much the same height and looks like it supposed to be there, end of :-D

The only way this speaker improves on the built-in speaker is it faces forward rather than up. The sound quality is no better than the built-in speaker.

I just bought new the SP10 to match my 991A expectations were low due to bad reports/reviews about the quality of sound being a issue.
I even bought a replacement speaker Peerless Tymphany PLS-P830984 from Sound Imports.
Well I have been trying the SP10 out as standard for a week now and rather happy with the audio which is better than radio internal speaker .
Clear sound on all bands .
I am thinking I happy with sound why did I spend more money buying a replacement speaker.
The answer because of all the bad reviews.
As I already have the Peerless I will do the upgrade and update this review.
But for anyone buying the SP10 don't be put off by the bad reviews.
