I can't believe this works

When I bought this a few years ago I thought it was a joke. It is not. I have used this on FT8 quite regularly. It was not hard to tune. I used it as a ground mounted vertical. I used to live in a high noise floor area and I could hear one or two stations. Later I moved out to the country and still had the antenna with me. I set it up out here and I was hearing all over the states. I used a spike to mount it and plenty or radials. I can hear across the US with it and I am making FT8 contacts.

Top Band mobile achieved.

160m at my home QTH is tricky because of the very high QRM locally.
However, if I drive down the coast away from home the S-level drops dramatically. I use this antenna with an Auto ATU and achieve a wider workable bandwidth, I 'centre' on 1920kHz which works for me. 25w got me into Scotland from the Kent coast.

One of the best investments I have made.

I bought a selection of these to get me going on POTA, all of them are amazing, took some advice and grounded my triple mag mount to the car frame and the results were amazing, SWR of 1.1 to 1.3, very pleased with the results and so much easier to use than my previous adjustable multiband antenna, I just simply fit the antenna for the band I want to use and off I go, no messing around, changed in seconds, these antennas are one of the best investments i have made.

Great aerial but has issues

Worked great until it started to suffer high swr after a day of stationary use ( not mobile ). It turns out the bottom section of aluminium has some form of varnish on it effectively isolating the coil and everything above the thread. Take note if you have problems.

I've worked Russian, Balkan en African stations on 160 with this amazing antenna mounted on my balcony. Sometime's you can hear US stations with it. It needs a very big couterpoise. Thats essential.
