So glad I bought the Ampro from Moonraker. The 20m is as good, and easy to set-up, as the rest of their range. If you are looking to get out on 20m, I would recommend this antenna, and also use a Ground plane wire on the Rig to flatten out the signal for UK QSO's. Find a good hill and you'll be a happy Operator!

Tried the Ampro 20 today - Superb antenna

Tried the Ampro 20 on my mag mount on a Toyota car. Wow what a result. A contest was on, but in 20 mins I worked , Poland, Russia, Italy, Serbia, Sweden, Portugal, Croatia, and USA. All in 20 min spell Antenna SWR is 1.1 , I was using 50 watts, amazing product and great value for money.
Well made , just plug in and off you go.

Great antenna

I matched this antenna with a Watson triple mag mount on my car and took it out to try a bit of Parks on the Air. Wouldn't want to try driving with it on - but easy to attach when you find your spot. It's worth taking half an hour to tune it carefully for your setup at first use, but it's easy enough - eg if you are using an SO239 adapter you'll have to shorten it the same length even to get started. Great results - in this case, 41 SSB contacts across Europe from Northern Ireland ( a lot farther west than London!) in 90 minutes with 55-59 reports across the board. really glad I got it and will be out with it again soon.

I am using 2 of these with a centre dipole on a tripod stand and have had great results.

Tuning problems

Previews reviews have highlighted tuning problems with these antennas which 1 found to because the upper whip section protrudes into the inner of the fibreglass lower section which causes tuning problems. Cutting the whip section is one solution but replacing the whip with a telescopic antenna (10m thread to screw into the lower section) cures this and can be tuned over all frequency bands and by marking the sections enables the antenna to be quickly set to tune length without any intrusion into the lower section.
Done this with my Ampro antennas with great success. Telescopic whips can be found on the internet
