I have the full set of Ampro antennas to use mainly on the beach they all tune very well this 5 mhz Antenna is very hard to tune although I managed it after a while

I bought a selection of these to get me going on POTA, all of them are amazing, took some advice and grounded my triple mag mount to the car frame and the results were amazing, SWR of 1.1 to 1.3, very pleased with the results and so much easier to use than my previous adjustable multiband antenna, I just simply fit the antenna for the band I want to use and off I go, no messing around, changed in seconds, these antennas are one of the best investments i have made.

I found this 60m Ampro harder to tune compared to the 30m/17m/12m ones I purchased recently. This antenna does work on 60m, but it needs a good size ground plane. I can get the VSWR down to 1.7:1 when mounted to my triple magmount attached to our LWB van. The VSWR goes to 2.5:1 when fitted to our small Twingo, so the larger metal ground area clearly makes a difference. The bandwidth of the low VSWR point is also very small (just 50KHz or so). I need to link mine via an ATU to see if that helps. I have tested it on FT8 and did make some easy contacts into France and Belgium, so it does work. I suspect these lower frequency Ampro's are pushing what's feasible with a magmount setup - I imagine it would work better if mounted to the roof directly, but I'm not doing that on a new van!

These Ampro antennas by Moonraker are well made. There are others on the market with the same name but are lower quality, now have the full set for HF.
