80m Ampro works well!
Review by
I have most of the other Ampro antennas already, but wanted an 80m version to give me an additional band when activating POTA. This antenna works very well. The bandwidth within the usable SWR range is fairly small, but it is quite easy to adjust the antenna if you need to.
For the price, they seem to work well. I use mine with a triple magmount.

well Built, Great Quality Antenna.
Review by
I bought a selection of these to get me going on POTA, all of them are amazing, took some advice and grounded my triple mag mount to the car frame and the results were amazing, SWR of 1.1 to 1.3, very pleased with the results and so much easier to use than my previous adjustable multiband antenna, I just simply fit the antenna for the band I want to use and off I go, no messing around, changed in seconds, these antennas are one of the best investmentx i have made.

Pleasantly surprised
Review by
I bought this with low expectations, 80 meters can be hit and miss , I was blown away by what I was picking up combined with an ATU this gave me a night time of contacts , if you haven’t tried 80 meters buy this antenna and give it a good, good price , definitely good value .

These Ampro antennas by Moonraker are well made. There are others on the market with the same name but different manufactures/design but are lower quality.

Decent range on WSPR
Review by
I have the unit plugged into a Sandpiper MK3+3 with SWR of 1:1, could not be better and have tuned it to the WSPR frequency. Easily covering Europe but not yet intercontinental, may get a 2nd and make an elevated dipole. So I'm happy with it and considering buying another in the next month or so. Bought as fed up with wires which change with the weather, this seems weather stable.

Perfect option for limited space and mobile use
Review by
I made a dipole from two of these antennas. Works quite ok for nvis, emergency communication and the local FIRAC communication at 3,630. Adjusment did not take long. I know it is not the most sufficent antenna, but I hav not enought space for a full half wave dipole for 80m. For 40m & 20m I use other antennas.

I have one of these AmPro 80m whips on the campervan using a gutter mount. No amount of adjustments would bring the vswr below 2.5:1-3.0:1 without an ATU....connecting a counterpoise to it brought it more into a usable state of tune without using a tuner.
While an antenna this size was never going to be very efficient, it does facilitate the use of the 80m band while /M (static of course) .... on the whole, not a bad option.

I also use AmPro whips for 17m, 20m & 40m which work well..
