Purchased one of these last week. I had been looking around online for a low cost 2m/70cms radio. Two choices came up for me. This or the QYT 8900. I went for the Lexien as it has a 10w max Tx that is suitable for a M6 Foundation licence holder. This fit the job perfectly as the QYT outputs 25w High and 20w Low. Receive is great on this radio. Picks up all local repeaters and one's further away. Programming with the cable was a breeze. (I also have a Baofeng handheld) Its not much different to programming a Chinese handheld.

That is, is if you have had it set up for you and the memories set up etc, It's got very loud output audio, so suitable for noisy van etc, it's small and unobtrusive but setting it up for anyone not used to programming similar (without the lead and software) is a time consuming task.
With a half decent antenna it's capable of hitting repeaters, and the transmit audio is good. It does feel like a PMR radio, that's essentially what it is, and if you're not wanting fancy features it does exactly what it says on the box.
If you're newly licenced and inexperienced, I'd recommend the software and cable - possibly get someone else to set it up for you.
