Moonraker m-100 pre amplifier

Excellent and same as the Jim 75 pre amplifier even a little better. (I have 2 Jim 75s). I put a BNC male-to-male adapter instead of the cable that came with it. These things work great. Pulls in digital further and even analog further. Very little static on non digital, not a big deal because now you can hear it. No notable loss with any connector. Item came Surprisingly quick. England to Boston witin a week. Don't let tariffs, shipping and taxes stop you because there's nothing you can do about it any way. Get what you want.

Tested with high end RX DV1/10 TX2
Digital Radio’s
DV10 is poor sensitivity at UHF 70Cms (DMR-DSTAR-Fusion etc) but this Amp brought it up to where it should be when Digital Voice is being listened to no Digital breakup or breakthrough was noted from other bands.
VHF the performance was acceptable again no amp generated QRM was noted.
Price wise it is a tad high.
But a great handy device to have available.
I suspect it would be useful with Space to Earth systems V/U/SHF
It worked well with the AOR 8600’s and the IC8500 so it would be useful for fixed station RX

Good addition to scanning kit

Got this to amplify the Skyscan Desktop antenna and a D777. It'll take a 2/3 and easily bring it up to a 5/8-5/9. Whereas without the preamp I could sometimes barely hear airband towers / ground activity, I can now sit a good distance away from an airshow and hear *everything* (with tower's permission of course). It's been handy for listening in on distant repeater nets and I'd say is a must for any SWL.

I didn’t originally intend to buy this but after various problems with 5 units of another make I settled on this one. I am really pleased that I did because apart from a couple of little niggles it work’s really well. I am now receiving signals that were previously just below the threshold of my scanners.
Now for the niggles:
1) the power led sometimes goes out when it warms up, but compared to the problems I had with the other make I can live with this.
2) the input and output connectors are both female bnc, only a problem if you want to fit it directly on top of a scanner and solved by using a male-male adapter.
3) In order to change the PP3 battery you have to dismantle the case by removing 4 screws (absolute pain). I have solved this by drilling a very small hole in the case and bringing the battery connector outside.
Despite these 3 things I would definitely recommend this product
