Radials are well under a 1/4 wavelength for 27-29 MHz
Review by
U14 Sierra
The radials have an OAL of less than 6 feet. On 10 meters a standard .25λ which would be just over 8 feet in length. On CB frequencies a .25λ radial is about 8’ 8”.
The collinear nature of the A99 antenna (which is the companion to this kit) having a .5λ over a .25λ lowers the radiation angle; however the ground plane radials intuitively seem shorter than they should be. And the description does not include any modeling information which explains how this kit alters its radiation patterns on 10 meters nor CB frequencies.
The hardware seems robust and of superior quality in comparison to what is found on most ground plane verticals.
Time will tell how it performs on the air. But fresh out of the packaging it is not what I would expect to find.
