If you’re running a Yaesu FTX-1, now is the time to check your firmware.
The latest update from Yaesu (released 16 March 2026) brings several important fixes and feature enhancements. This follows closely behind an earlier March release, making it a key update for active operators.
What’s New in the March 2026 Firmware?
The newest firmware versions are:
- DISPLAY: v01-09
- MAIN: v01-12
- DSP: v01-07
- SDR: v01-06
One of the most notable fixes affects users of the Yaesu SPA-1. The previous MAIN v01-11 version had an issue where transmit power on 144 MHz and 430 MHz did not meet expected levels when the SPA-1 was connected. This has now been resolved.
Key Improvements
This update also introduces and fixes several important features:
- Adds WIRES-X support directly to the FTX-1
- Fixes manual tuning in CW mode when using the Yaesu ATAS-120
- Resolves a scope display bug affecting UPPER/LOWER indications on 50 MHz SSB
- Enables FTX-1 + PC operation as a WIRES-X node (no HRI-200 required)
Important: After installing the firmware, a full reset of the FTX-1 is required.
Should You Update?
If you’re actively using your FTX-1—especially with accessories like the SPA-1 or ATAS-120—this update is highly recommended. The bug fixes alone make it worthwhile, and the added WIRES-X flexibility is a big bonus for digital operators.
